The Light House Educational Ventures

The Light House Educational Ventures is to reach out and help commercial sex workers and their children. Situated in Budhwar Peth, the red-light district of Pune, the Centre provides tuition classes for children in the mornings and afternoons. There are adult literary classes for the women and a counselor who helps develop confidence in these women to find alternate employment. The Centre operates a kitchen in our facility in Budhwar Peth providing nutritional meals to the tuition children and women six days a week. It truly is a “beacon of light in a dark place”

The Micro Credit System

The microcredit program was introduced in the mid ’90s. Over the years many economically disadvantaged have benefited from this program. Small scale enterprises from catering to vegetable vending and other micro enterprises have uplifted many poor families.

Harbour City School

The Harbour City School is located off B.T. Kawade Road in Ghorpuri, about 3.5 Kms from Pune Cantonment. The school has classes from Kindergarten to Standard 6. We hope to go up to Standard 10 in the future. Most of the children come from low socio economic backgrounds. The School is an English medium school which follows the CBSE curriculum. We have well trained teachers who are degree holders in various fields. We provide not only an excellent academic environment, but also encourage creativity and courses in personality development. The change from where they were when they join the school to where they are now is visible and highly gratifying. (At present, the school is in suspension as we are in the process of building 3 additional floors. Once the building construction is over we will restart the school).
